We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Administrative Director, Orthopaedic Surgery and Rehabilitation Medicine to join our renowned flagship hospital. As a key member of our leadership team, you will play a critical role in ensuring high-quality, efficient, and compassionate care, while achieving robust growth and program development.

**HOW YOU'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE:**

Through operational and data analysis, identifying the highest-value opportunities to enhance clinical workflow, scale operations and remove operational barriers. You'll be responsible for operational management, budget and financial management, quality assurance and compliance, staffing and our staff experience, and patient satisfaction.

Reporting to the Chair of Orthopedics and the Vice President, Clinical Operations, this position is accountable for Orthopedic Surgery, Rehabilitation Medicine and Podiatry faculty practice and ambulatory clinics, taking leadership for the strategic, financial and operational aspects of the Orthopedics Department. In collaboration with departmental leadership, takes full accountability for strategic business plan development, the achievement of annual and long-term operational goals for the Department, excellence in patient access and care, and effective financial management.

This role focuses on providing administrative and business support to the organization in order to achieve operational goals. In addition, this role focuses on performing the following Clinical Administration duties: Long-term strategic planning, determines strategic issues and opportunities that could affect practice success, prioritizes and tracks investments across practices, allocates resources and makes decisions regarding practice growth, and develops need to accomplish the practice's vision. A management role that supervises employees focusing on tactical, operational activities within a specified area, with the majority of time spent overseeing area of responsibility, planning, prioritizing and/or directing the responsibilities of employees. Goal achievement is typically accomplished through performance of direct and/or indirect reports. A role that directs a department or small unit that includes multiple teams led by managers and/or team Leaders. Responsibilities typically include: ownership of short to mid-term (1-3 years) execution of functional strategy and the operational direction of the Department, problems faced are often complex and require extensive investigation and analysis, and requires ability to influence others to accept practices and approaches, and ability to communicate and influence executive leadership.

**Job Overview**

This position accountable for service line management, taking leadership for the strategic, financial and operational aspects of the Department. In collaboration with departmental and physician leadership, takes full accountability for strategic business plan development, the achievement of annual and long-term operational goals for the Department, excellence in patient access and care, and effective financial management.

**Job Description**

**Minimum Qualifications:**

1. Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration or Business.

2. Seven (7) years of progressive leadership growth in the healthcare industry.

**Preferred Qualifications:**

1. Master's degree in Healthcare Administration or Business.

2. Ten (10) years of progressive leadership growth in the healthcare industry.

3. Experience with EPIC.

**Duties and Responsibilities:** The duties and responsibilities listed below are intended to describe the general nature of work and are not intended to be an all-inclusive list. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

1. In collaboration with departmental and physician leadership, manages all operational facets of the department, including procurement of equipment, ambulatory practice management, patient satisfaction, space management, etc

2. Collaborates in the development and management of the annual business plan. Develops strategies to achieve annual and long-term operational and financial goals, and expansion of the practice.

3. Ensures efficient business operations and the smooth integration with other hospital business operations, to effectively support the achievement of the business plan.

4. Develops, recommends, and administers physician's financial incentive programs to foster continual improvements in meeting established goals for the service line.

5. Collaborates with External Affairs to develop and carry out marketing and/or public relations programs to enhance Tufts Medical Center's image within relevant healthcare communities as a medical service provider of choice.

6. Maintains effective liaison with a variety of staff and management in various departments and functions, such as Patient Accounts, Information Systems, Human Resources, Purchasing, Maintenance, Patient Accounts, etc. Resolves a variety of administrative issues.

7. May work collaboratively with the Billing and Finance Departments to fully understand the practice's AR, denial trends, referral management and areas of improvement/training needed by staff and providers.

8. Identifies and utilizes appropriate statistical measures and ensures or produces meaningful reports that enable medical leadership to make clinical process decisions and monitor and continually improve clinical processes.

9. Develops, implements, and tracks programs to ensure appropriate access and coordination of care for patients, resulting in a high level of patient/customer satisfaction.

10. Participates in the capital acquisition process, identifying need for replacement capital and researching new program requirements.

11. Assures that all relevant legal, regulatory, and organizational compliance standards are maintained.

12. Supervises administrative staff, including encouragement of professional development opportunities, which align with organizational priorities.

13. Advocates the mission, philosophy and core values of the department, in concert with the mission of the organization.

14. Maintains a collaborative relationship with peers and colleagues in the department to insure that specified goals are achieved.
