The VA Eastern Oklahoma Healthcare System (EOVAHCS) is actively recruiting for a Urologist to help care for our Veterans – American's Heroes. We have opportunities for involvement with the education and teaching of residents, medical students, and other providers. EOVAHCS consists of two ambulatory care centers, a tertiary care facility, and 8 community-based outpatient clinics. EOVAHCS serves Veterans residing in multiple counties throughout the Eastern Oklahoma region. There are 55,000 Veterans in the EOVAHCS service area. The Urologist is accountable to the Chief of Surgery, Urology is aligned under the Surgical Services Department and is responsible for managing the most effective urological care, to include urology. He/she participates in all aspects of the general urology program, including the following: provide urological outpatient care (invasive and noninvasive) to all scheduled and walk-in patients; inform patients (and/or guardians, caretakers, and family members when appropriate) of alternative treatment and diagnostic modes and the risks and benefits of each.
The Urologist will provide a pre-operative evaluation of each patient scheduled for elective or emergency surgery. Additionally, they are responsible for providing the patient with risks, benefits, and alternative treatments and obtaining informed consent from the patient or guardian before conducting invasive procedures. He/she is responsible for encouraging family members or guardians to be involved with the patients' care, performing invasive procedures such as cystoscopies (with intra-urethral topical anesthetic), vasectomies, circumcisions, infrared coagulation and/or excision of genital lesions, urethral meatotomies, and dorsal slits (with local anesthetic), and assuming total responsibility for all perioperative care for assigned patients.
Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday (you will be required to work evenings or weekends as a 24/7 full-time Physician). Work will be performed primarily in outpatient clinic and operating room, with inpatient call coverages.
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in the U.S.
- Board Eligible/Board Certified in Urology, Excellent personal relationship skills and clinical expertise preferred.
- Sign on bonus will be offered & potential for annual performance bonus up to $15,000
Preferred Experience: Experience in enterostomy as a component of an urologic procedure Intestinal conduit, surgery of the lymphatic system, including lymph node dissection (inguinal retroperitoneal or pelvic), excision of a retroperitoneal cyst or tumor, and exploration of the retroperitoneum Additionally, transurethral surgery, including resection of prostate and bladder tumors, Open stone surgery on the kidney, ureter, and bladder, Surgery of the prostate, including transrectal ultrasound-guided and other biopsy techniques.
Starting pay at $300,000.00 to $400,000.00 Per Year
