The Baltimore VA Medical Center, in partnership with the University of Maryland School of Medicine, is seeking a highly qualified General Gastroenterologist for a full-time faculty appointment. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical skills in managing a broad range of gastrointestinal disorders and possess a commitment to excellence in patient care, education, and research. Key Responsibilities:
•Provide comprehensive care to veterans with gastrointestinal conditions, including diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care.
•Perform endoscopic procedures such as colonoscopies, upper endoscopies (EGDs), and other diagnostic/therapeutic procedures.
•Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare providers to develop individualized treatment plans for patients.
•Participate in the education of medical students, residents, and fellows through teaching, mentorship, and clinical supervision.
•Engage in clinical research initiatives and contribute to scholarly activities within the field of gastroenterology.
•Participate in on-call rotation and inpatient gastroenterology consultations.
•Work closely with the VA administration and University of Maryland School of Medicine faculty to ensure alignment with institutional goals and standards of care.
Qualifications:
•MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
•Board certification in Gastroenterology.
•Eligible for licensure in the state of Maryland.
•Demonstrated commitment to patient care, education, and research.
•Experience with or willingness to engage in clinical trials or other research projects is preferred.
Academic Appointment:
This position includes a faculty appointment at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, with rank commensurate with experience and academic achievement. Compensation Information:
$300000.00 / Annually - $400000.00 / AnnuallyDetails:
Receive annual base pay increases, when signed into federal law (as of 2024, the 5-year average increase was 2.92%), biennial within-grade or "step" longevity increases, and biennial market pay increases resulting from additional credentials, promotions, or local market changes.
