This is your opportunity for career growth and leadership development! The opportunity to serve as a Physician Lead Supervisor for Livermore CBOC VA Primary Care Clinic and work with a dynamic, collaborative, and engaged local leadership team to manage high quality & efficient health care on site.

At VA Palo Alto Health Care System, we stress the principles of servant leadership; the Physician Lead Supervisor will benefit from training and gain experience in effective communication, data management, and process improvement for success on the front line. Managerial duties will include staff deployment & leave administration, human resources management & labor relations, professional practice review & evaluation, and planning & implementation around existing system imperatives. The Physician Lead Supervisor will also have freedom and support to explore and develop or tailor new initiatives and projects to meet service performance metrics and/or health system strategic goals at their sites. The roll will afford regular mentorship and interaction with Service level & Executive Leadership, including daily huddling, recurring site and system wide meetings, and championship of one or more broad performance metrics. The Physician Lead Supervisor will have a reduced clinical load commensurate with the size/complexity of the site and the number of staff reports. Additional reductions may be considered for additional skills and work in various areas of key interest such as whole-health deployment.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Evaluation, including performance of H&P (history and physical); diagnosis; consultation; and treatment of adult patients with medical illnesses performed in the clinic environment, via telehealth or via VA approved video modalities with appropriate support and monitoring.
  • Provider may perform diagnostic or therapeutic joint aspiration/ injection, soft tissue injection, routine women's health (pelvic exam, breast exam, cytologic pap smear testing, cervical HPV testing), laceration repair, foreign body removal, abscess incision and drainage, diagnostic paracentesis, and wound debridement.
  • Provide comprehensive general primary care and comprehensive women's health care.
  • Provide care for patients via face-to face, telemedicine or VA approved video modalities.
  • Perform preliminary interpretation of ECG and radiographic studies.
  • Supervise residents, fellows, and others in training.

Work Schedule: 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday

Preferred Experience: Board Certified in either Internal Medicine or Family Practice with a preference to subspecialty certification in Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine.

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program of up to $200,000 tax free.
