Job Description
College of Southern Nevada, Disability Resource Center/Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services is seeking Part-time accommodation service providers, to attend classes with students, both on-campus and virtually. These students have documented disabilities or other related requirements necessary for ADA compliance. Positions are available on all campuses. Candidates may work on one campus exclusively or multiple campuses and are based on candidate preference.
Position Summary
The Notetaker is responsible for providing accurate and timely notetaking services to students with disabilities who are enrolled in classes at the College of Southern Nevada. This position requires excellent listening, writing, and organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities
Attend Class Sessions: Attend designated class sessions as scheduled, ensuring punctuality and reliability.
Take Accurate Notes: Capture the essential content of lectures, discussions, and presentations, including diagrams, charts, and examples.
Maintain Neat and Legible Notes: Ensure that notes are clear, concise, and easy to read.
Meet Deadlines: Submit completed notes to the Disability Resource Center / Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services departments within the specified timeframe.
Maintain Confidentiality: Adhere to strict confidentiality standards regarding student information and note content.
Communicate Effectively: Maintain regular communication with the Disability Resource Center / Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services staff and students to address any questions or concerns.
Participate in Training: Attend training sessions as needed to enhance notetaking skills and stay updated on relevant disability-related information.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma, or equivalent, preferably with a minimum of one year of post-secondary educational experience.
Must possess an understanding of the basic sensitivities pertinent to communication with students who have disabilities.
Ability to take thorough and organized notes utilizing available technology from the information presented verbally in classrooms.
Must have legible handwriting, accurate spelling, use of acceptable grammar, and proficiency in the use of computers.
Must possess good organizational skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently with limited supervision
Ability to work well in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty, and staff
Starting Salary
$15.00 Hourly.
