Job Summary
Teach a full range of Culinary Arts, Pastry Arts, and/or Food and Beverage courses with differing modes of instruction including lecture, demonstration, laboratory, practical application, and online, presenting the course materials in a manner that educates and engages students.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate degree in Culinary Arts, Pastry Arts, or Food and Beverage Management from a regionally accredited college or university.
Five years of general hands-on Culinary and/or Pastry experience as a line employee.
Three years of teaching experience.
Current ServSafe Certified.
Skills in use and operation of industry computer software.
Knowledge of current trends in the food and beverage industry.
Written and verbal communication skills that will facilitate effective teaching and mentoring.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Culinary Arts, Pastry Arts, or Food and Beverage Management from a regionally accredited college or university.
Two years of management experience in a professional kitchen and/or front of house.
Five years of teaching experience.
Prior experience using Canvas Learning Management system.
Demonstrated experience teaching with a community college.
Demonstrated experience teaching diverse student populations and addressing equity gaps.
The ideal candidate should possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Effectively evaluate student performance while meeting assessment guidelines.
Obtain certifications required to teach classes as requested by the program director or department chair.
Develop a professional working relationship with other faculty and staff in the department and the college.
Participate in program/division meetings and activities.
Ability to teach a variety of day, evenings, and/or weekend classes.
Ability to stand for 6 hours.
Ability to lift 50 pounds.
Starting Salary Range
Initial salary placement is based on educational level and total years of full-time equivalent teaching experience. For example, for an instructor with a Master's degree, the salary range would be $58,046 to $74,304 annually. The entire salary range is up to $89,166 annually with a Doctorate and 10 years' experience. A maximum of 10 years of experience will be considered for initial salary placement purposes.
