Within the Integrated Processing & Transfer Facility (IPTF), the role of the Process Electrician is to maintain the safe and efficient functionality of electrical systems and equipment. Their duties encompass diverse tasks such as installation, maintenance, and repairs, as well as troubleshooting, inspections, and isolating potentially hazardous electrical systems. Possessing a comprehensive understanding of industrial electrical systems is fundamental to enhancing waste processing and recycling operations. Furthermore, the Process Electrician proactively contributes to projects aimed at improving energy efficiency and sustainability throughout the facility.

What will you be doing?

• Responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and equipment used in the waste management process, i.e. circuit breakers, control panels, and motors that power machinery such as conveyors, shredders, and windsifters
• Install new electrical equipment and systems in accordance with the Canadian Electrical Code and industry best practices
• Maintain existing electrical equipment and systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical equipment and systems in a timely and efficient manner
• Perform preventive maintenance on electrical equipment and systems to minimize downtime
• Maintain accurate records of all electrical maintenance activities
• Diagnose and repair problems to minimize downtime when electrical issues arise
• Respond to electrical emergencies in a timely and professional manner
• Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical problems using a variety of diagnostic tools and techniques
• Repair or replace faulty electrical components and systems
• Test and verify the proper operation of electrical equipment and systems after repairs are completed
• Provide technical support to other maintenance staff and plant operators
• Ensure all electrical installations comply with local, provincial, and federal safety regulations
• Regular inspections of electrical equipment and systems to identify potential safety hazards
• Ensure that all electrical work is performed in accordance with applicable safety regulations
• Participate in safety training and education programs
• Report any safety hazards or concerns to the appropriate personnel
• Work closely with other maintenance staff, engineers, and plant operators to support the overall operation of the facility
• Collaborate with other maintenance staff to plan and coordinate maintenance activities
• Provide technical support to plant operators and other staff
• Participate in the development and implementation of new electrical systems and upgrades
• Train other staff on the safe use of electrical equipment
