Description

As a Scalehouse Attendant at the Edmonton Waste Management Centre, you will provide a high level of customer service to commercial and residential customers as well as contractors and City of Edmonton employees.

The Scalehouse Attendant primarily works inside the Scalehouse but may be required to work at the Residential Transfer Station based on operational needs. You may be required to handle and process hazardous materials and perform various labour activities to maintain the site and ensure traffic flow. Your success will be measured by your ability to achieve timely results in the context of a respectful, inclusive and service-minded style.

What will you be doing? 

• Weigh, screen and track loads entering/leaving the EWMC using specialized computer software
• Ensure proper load disposal including ensuring all materials received fall within waste control regulations
• Understand directions, follow procedures and memorize very detailed identification and material handling requirements
• Provide traffic control, snow removal and other related duties as required to Scalehouse and Site operations
• Handle cash transactions according to corporate standards and cash handling procedures with a high degree of accuracy
• Provide excellent customer service, follow the standard operating procedure to ensure the safety of the public and the employees and comply with all environmental requirements
• Educate the public and respond to customer inquiries along with good verbal and written communication to all individuals with professional and courteous service
• Work in a fast-paced environment doing multiple tasks under tight time constraints
• Perform other related duties as required
