Working out of various award-winning Eco Stations, Eco Station Attendants use their interpersonal skills and passion for the environment to educate citizens on proper disposal procedures for waste and recyclables. Your success will be measured by your ability to achieve timely results in the context of a respectful, inclusive and service-minded style.

What will you do?

  • Educate the public on the proper and safe use of the recycling area
  • Review all material collected at the recycling sites, remove contamination to acceptable market standards and ensure materials are compressed
  • Provide traffic control and direction, greet and educate the public on the proper use of all ECO Station collection areas, and provide prompt and courteous service
  • Follow the City's cash-handling procedures
  • Assist the public with unloading and storing materials
  • Sort, bulk, and pack materials to ensure recycling resources are not contaminated and hazardous materials are handled and stored in a safe and proper manner
  • Utilize mobile equipment and tools to move materials and perform functions
  • Provide site safety, cleanliness, and maintenance and provide a security presence
  • Conduct job duties safely and in compliance with City and Provincial Occupational Health & Safety and Environmental Legislation regulations, codes and policies
