**This posting is for one (1) Full-Time Temporary position with Benefits that may continue for 12 months **


The Edmonton Police Service requires one (1) Digital Evidence Management Team Lead to fulfill a critical role in the Digital Evidence & Records Management Unit. You will oversee a team of Digital Evidence Management Technicians who process digital evidence and information including body-worn video, security/surveillance systems, internally produced recordings for investigative purposes, and other sources. You will play a critical role in ensuring and maintaining the integrity, confidentiality, and authenticity of EPS' digital evidence.

Responsibilites of this position include: 

  • Providing leadership, mentoring, supervision, and feedback to a team of Digital Evidence Management Technicians.
  • Setting performance goals, monitoring progress, and reporting on team performance.
  • Planning, monitoring, and prioritizing work assignments to meet operational needs.
  • Providing ongoing analysis of workflow, service delivery, and volumes to prevent backlogs and meet disclosure timelines.
  • Analyzing and adapting processes as EPS' digital evidence management program evolves, assisting in establishing governance standards, procedures, and policies.
  • Identifying records and information management risks, recommending mitigation strategies.
  • Working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with legislation and policy.
  • Liaising with the Crown Prosecution offices to provide end-user support and obtain direction on redaction and vetting in complex situations.
  • Acting as a subject matter expert for the digital evidence management system, providing technical assistance and training.
  • Recording and auditing procedures and technologies used in redacting and vetting, ensuring information is properly documented for disclosure.
  • Conducting digital evidence mgmt. system audits for internal purposes and court requests; writing affidavits and attending court if/as needed.
  • Preparing comprehensive reports for leadership with actionable insights and verified data to guide strategic planning and operational decisions.
  • Performing other related duties as required.
