Description

As a Bridge Worker I, you will play a key role in ensuring the safety and functionality of vital infrastructure. You will be responsible for conducting regular maintenance and necessary repairs on a variety of structures, including bridges, piers, staircases, boardwalks, lookouts, docks, and boat launches. Your work will take you to various locations across the city, contributing to the upkeep and accessibility of these essential public assets.

What will you do?

  • Operate and perform minor maintenance of the following types of equipment: various sized jackhammers, drills, chain saws, tampers, sandblasters, concrete vibrators, etc. 
  • Work on structural steel, concrete, asphalt or wood components of bridges 
  • Perform bridge washing and debris removal 
  • Perform bridge painting, sandblasting, sealing, grouting, placing and finishing structural concrete 
  • Handle various toxic products such as epoxies, grouts, sealers, paints, thinners and cleaners 
  • Assist with on site set up, maintenance and clean up including scaffolding construction and dismantling, barricade locating and equipment locating 
  • Load and unload equipment from trucks 
  • Flagman duties 
  • Other related duties as required
