The Branch Report Coordinator and Writer is responsible for ensuring that all reports and presentations are of the highest quality and reflect the strategic priorities of the branch and the City. You will work closely with branch leadership, subject matter experts, and other stakeholders to gather information, synthesize complex data, and translate technical jargon into easily understandable language for Council and the public. This role demands a keen eye for detail, the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and a strong understanding of policy development and implementation.
What will you do?
- Lead the development of all Parks and Roads Services Council Reports
- Collaborate with directors, branch managers, subject matter experts, and business partners to gather, write, and review report content
- Synthesize highly complex, technical information into plain language
- Draft, revise, and edit reports, presentations, Q&As, and briefing notes
- Act as the branch subject matter expert in report writing and the report process
- Maintain close and collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Lead the internal report review process
- Manage the report schedule/tracker, ensuring that all branch reports meet scheduled milestones and timelines
- Identify external expertise and manage the integration of information between external sources and branches
- Lead analysis and positioning discussions with leadership
- Liaise with Communications to ensure that reports of high political sensitivity are adequately supported and planned for
- Lead identification and research of policy and procedural issues related to best practices
- Conduct research and environmental scanning activities to identify best practices
