GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Under the general supervision of an employee of a higher classification, performs professional work in instructing preschool -aged children. Work involves teaching preschool-aged children basic pre- elementary subjects. Work includes planning, organizing, and supervising classroom activities to promote the social, emotional, intellectual, and psychological growth of preschool- aged children. Instruction is individual or in groups and is adapted to the needs, interests, and abilities of the child. Work is reviewed through conferences, observations, and review of lesson plans. Performs other work as requested. Note: Most employees within this classification are paid an hourly rate and work ten (10) months or less a year.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
A Bachelor's degree in child development or early childhood education.

SUBSTITUTIONS
Bachelor's degree in any field.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS
(Unless otherwise specified below, must possess at the time of aointment and must be maintained current throughout employment in this classification.) None.

OTHER JOB ASPECTS
Employees of this class are required to successfully complete nine hours of course work in early childhood edhoodion or child development within one calendar year from the initial employment date or the employee will be terminated. Completion of nine hours of course work in early childhood education or childhood development is a requirement of employment, therefore the probationary period will end after the employee has completed six (6) months of employment and completed the required course work. Must be able to bend, stoop and lift 50 pounds. This position requires computer software skills.
