INVESTMENT MANAGEMENT GOVERNANCE OFFICE BUSINESS MANAGER
WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY? Working within the Wealth Management division, this role will be part of the team that provides oversight and guidance to City National's lines of business with a strong focus on integrated and streamlined investment management governance programs.
What you will do

  • At the direction of the Head of Investment Management Governance, provide ongoing oversight of City National Bank's (CNB's) Retail Non-Deposit Investment Products (the “RNDIP”) program and CNB's Fiduciary activities to ensure adherence with established policies and procedures.
  • Build and sustain effective relationships and alliances both internally and across all lines of business and staff areas to help deliver results and to ensure applicable issues are identified, analyzed and managed appropriately. Understand interdependencies across LOBs and support groups to achieve success in supporting remediation of regulatory, internal audit, and self-identified issues.
  • Analyze, evaluate and periodically review current risk management practices relating to RNDIP and Fiduciary activities across the organization, including activities at network affiliates. Collaborate closely with colleagues across Risk, Compliance and Internal Audit to strengthen the control environment and enhance risk management practices.
  • Monitor Fiduciary activities for adherence to CNB's policies and procedures, including ongoing review of Fiduciary committee charters and reporting.
  • Analyze and evaluate data presented to Fiduciary committees to 1) identify reporting gaps and 2) ensure Fiduciary data accuracy and completeness, including data provided by applicable advisers/sub-advisers.
  • Support annual review of the Fiduciary committee charters, RNDIP inter-company agreements, RNDIP Program Management Statement, and other related procedures owned by the IMGO.
  • Review new products for applicability to RNDIP and Fiduciary programs.
  • Design and implement reporting associated with Fiduciary activities to appropriate governance committees.
  • Support training for RNDIP and Fiduciary programs across LOBs.
  • Support execution of activities described in the Investment Management Policy, including adherence to related policies and procedures.
  • Support audit and examination activities.

Must-Have*

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
  • Minimum 8 years managing projects
  • Minimum 8 years within or related to financial services

Skills and Knowledge

  • Knowledge of OCC Reg 9
  • 8 years of experience managing projects
  • 8 years in a role requiring complex problem solving
  • Investment product knowledge preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills – and ability to interact with colleagues at all levels in a peer-like way, and achieve goals without direct control over resources
  • Strong emerging end-to-end generalist problem solving skills, e.g., defining and deconstructing problems, prioritizing issues and analysis, structuring and building quantitative and qualitative/conceptual analyses
  • Demonstrated ability to Influence change, build relationships, communicate effectively, work under pressure, manage multiple priorities and deliver high caliber results.
  • Proficiency with MS Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and prioritization skills and ability to balance multiple priorities.
  • Diverse problem solving experience
  • An outstanding ability to analyze problems, apply quantitative analytical approaches, communicate effectively and confidently (both oral and written), work well in cross-functional teams
  • Quick learning ability, outstanding analytical skills and a structured way of thinking, your attention to details is exceptional
  • Operate well under stress, even faced with tight timelines for ambitious deliverables Significant experience in driving operational change with front line to senior leadership personnel
  • Excellent relationship and stakeholder management skills
  • Be able to handle uncertainty well, and are able to simplify complexity
Compensation Starting base salary: $111,408 - $189,738 per year. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. This job is eligible for bonus and/or commissions.
