A challenging and fulfilling position with our RSVP (Retired Seniors Volunteer Program) as the Boone County Coordinator.  This position is designed as a stepping stone to the Director role, which involves greater responsibility in strategic planning, leadership and program management.  The successful candidate will have the opportunity to grow within the organization and assume this leadership role as they demonstrate the necessary skills and commitment.
Status:  Full-Time – 30 hours per week with possibility of more
Shift:  Days
Shift Time Schedule:  8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Days:  Monday – Friday
Salary:  $23,400 to $24,960 depending on experience

POSITION SUMMARY : Responsible for recruitment and coordination of RSVP volunteers through volunteer management services and internal program.  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Punctual regular attendance.
  • Become acclimated to and understand all partner volunteer job opportunities and knowing volunteer partnering agencies contacts to effectively and efficiently do job.
  • Promote RSVP in all Boone County Communities through speaking engagements/presentations, displays and various outreach activities.
  • A presence or booth at community events for or that attract older adults.
  • Assist with coordination of marketing efforts and media contacts in coordination and team work with Advisory Council and RSVP staff.
  • No less than 30% of pay period will be field work.
  • Learn and effectively work with RSVP Director in all roles of recruiting and sustaining of volunteer (all-inclusive of persons aged 55+) which include enrollment, orientation, placement, follow-up, continuing supervision and support of and retaining volunteers in coordination with volunteer partner agency's needs.
  • Learn and effectively do all roles of recruit and sustaining of internal programs which include enrollment, orientation, volunteer placement, follow-up, continuing supervision and support of.
  • Report to RSVP Director in timely manner any and all concerns, problems in relations and or work.
  • Work cooperatively with RSVP colleagues to accomplish over-all goals and objectives of the program as related to volunteers, partner agencies and volunteer activities.
  • Assist in coordinating volunteer recognition activities.
  • Assist with Small Medical Equipment Loan Closet loan outs and returns.
  • Able to lift 15 - 30 pounds.
  • Maintain and provide required and requested records/reports to assist in preparation of periodic reports.
  • Provide in timely manner properly completed personal timesheets, mileage requests and other as needed.
  • In cooperation with RSVP Director, participate in evaluation and survey of programming activities that are expected to have volunteer service impact in the context of grand work plans.
  • Maintain work activity log of challenges, TA needs, partnership/collaboration development, resource development, volunteer stories and quotes, and other accomplishments for purposes of program required periodic reports and evaluations.
  • Maintain regular communication on program activity with RSVP Director and as requested.
  • Participate in and report at Advisory Council meetings.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED :

  • Qualified individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Must be computer literate and have outstanding customer service skills.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Typical working conditions include sitting at a desk for extended periods of time while working on a computer or talking on the phone.
