Description:  1.0  FTE Special Education Teacher- This position will support special education students in grades K-3, as well as manage Birchtree's academic intervention program.  The position is supported by a full-time special education assistant and will work collaboratively with another full-time special education teacher to ensure continuity of services for students across the grades.

Site specific information: Birchtree is a Waldorf-inspired charter school with 400 students in grades K - 8.  

Job Summary: This position will provide special education case management for students with IEPs in grades K-3 and will also organize and manage our academic intervention program.

Qualifications:  Alaska Teaching Certificate-Type A and Bachelor's degree, with an endorsement in Special Education.  

Essential Duties 1   Serves as case manager for students in grade K-3 with IEPs. 2 Provides direct service to students through both "push-in" and "pull-out" instruction. 4 Participates as a collaborative member of the elementary school team. 5 Participates in parent conferences. 6 Other duties as assigned by the principal or assistant principal.

 



Physical Requirements: LIGHT WORK: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligable amount of force constantly to move objects.  If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.
