Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington Massachusetts is seeking a full-time transplant nephrologist to join the Division of Transplantation in the Department of Surgery. Lahey has 334 inpatient hospital beds and is a Level 1 trauma center. It is located 15 miles northwest of Boston with nearby access to the Cape Cod, beaches, northern New England and outdoor sports, and all of the activities that Boston has to offer.
There are over 450 combined patients on our kidney transplant waiting list and in the evaluation process. Approximately 50-66 kidney transplants are performed every year, of which approximately 25 are living donor kidney transplants, including enrollment through the National Kidney Registry program (NKR). We have excellent outcomes for our donors and recipients. The successful candidate will join a dedicated team of 2 transplant nephrologists, 5 transplant surgeons, 2 surgical fellows, 5 hepatologists and one hepatology fellow.
We have a strong multidisciplinary team consisting of advanced practitioners, pharmacy, nutrition, social work, financial coordinators, and nurse coordinators. We also provide nephrology services for our busy liver transplant program.
Responsibilities include: pre-transplant clinic evaluations, kidney transplant wait list appointments, donor evaluations, inpatient coverage, post-transplant nephrology clinic, and determine suitability of organs from medically complex deceased donors. Our team also manages renal replacement therapy (CRRT, HD and PD) on the inpatient kidney and liver transplant service.
Administrative duties include development of clinical protocols, referral review, candidate selection committee participation, donor selection committee participation, multi-disciplinary rounds, QAPI meetings, hospital department meetings, M and M conferences, engaging the local and regional communities through outreach activities to foster relationships and referrals, teaching of fellows, residents and students. There may be opportunities for focused research, and to grow and oversee the kidney exchange program through the NKR.

Qualifications:
- MD/DO from an accredited medical school.
- ABIM board certified in Internal Medicine and in Nephrology
- Licensed to practice medicine in the state of Massachusetts
- Transplant nephrology fellowship completed.
- Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor rank
