Position Summary
The Clinical Coordinator will act as a clinical instructor and aid the program director with program operations. The Clinical Coordinator will assume all Clinical Instructor responsibilities by observing a portion of students in the clinical environment. The primary mode of observation is face to face and may include some virtual observations. Face to face visits require travel, virtual visits require internet use, laptop, webcam, microphone, and apps such as Zoom or Microsoft Teams. Clinical locations across the U.S. require travel and lodging due to widespread geographical range. Instructor must follow program schedules and learning outcomes associated with all clinical courses: DOSM 400, 401, 402, 403, 404, 405 and 406.
The part-time instructor shall perform duties and responsibilities in collaboration with the Program Chair, Clinical Coordinator and Clinical Preceptors. As a part time adjunct instructor in the Medical Dosimetry program, the individual is responsible for teaching, observing and evaluating in clinical settings. Other responsibilities include participation in assessing student learning outcomes; developing, revising, and implementing curriculum; maintaining current knowledge and skills in the area of assignment; building collaborative relationships within the BC community and the radiation oncology community at large; demonstrating a strong commitment to student success and fostering a positive, caring learning environment that values diversity, equity and inclusion.
Adjunct Professor is typically assigned as needed on a quarterly basis, with no expectation of continued employment beyond the current appointment.
Bellevue College uses a quarter system with four quarters in one academic year. A typical quarter is 11 weeks in length. Each student must have one midterm clinical observation of 6-8 hours and one final clinical observation of 6-8 hours. Total clinical Instruction per student: Twelve to 16 hours per student per quarter.
Instructor time commitment/compensation examples: Two students require a total 24-32 hours per quarter. Three students require a total 36-48 hours per quarter, etc. The number of students per instructor will vary based on demand and availability.
Compensation for the Clinical and non-instructional portion of the job is $40.18 - $49.33 per hour. Pay for clinical visitation varies by number of students each quarter. Clinical Coordinator pay rate varies depending on number of contracted tasks and hours.
Quarterly remuneration for instruction of a 5-credit lecture class is $5,716.52 - $6,968.62. Compensation is prorated based on type and duration of assignments. Individuals newly hired to Adjunct Professor group at the college are placed at the minimum rate per union bargaining agreement. Certain positions may also be eligible for assignment/project-based additional compensation, including a High Demand Stipend up to $8,350 annually, prorated based on the discipline and duration of the assignment. All additional compensations are subject to change depending on funding and negotiated agreement.

In addition to teaching, faculty maintains office hours and may participate in department and college activities. This position is represented by the Bellevue College Association of Higher Education (BCAHE) union.

Essential FunctionsClinical Coordinator:
- Coordinating clinical education and student onboarding requirements
- Coordinate treatment planning computer lab schedule on campus for dosimetry and radiation therapy students
- Create course syllabus, audit clinical tracking documents and enter course grades
- Delegate tasks to all Clinical Instructors
- Assist with curriculum development and assessment including CANVAS and Trajecsys operations
- Maintaining program compliance by adhering to accreditation standards
- Develop and maintain program policy and procedures
Part-time instructor:
- Promote teaching and learning in medical dosimetry and clinical settings.
- Assess student learning outcomes and provide students with timely written and verbal feedback.
- May participate in curriculum revisions with the integration of the latest research aimed at continuous improvement and new course development.
- Utilize a variety of teaching and learning strategies and innovative techniques including the integration of technology and the latest research to assist students in the achievement of learning outcomes and assessment of learning.
- Participate in work with the advisory committee to engage community interests in Medical Dosimetry education.
- Refer students to appropriate college resources as necessary.
- Participate in professional development activities related to teaching and learning theory and education in Medical Dosimetry
- Maintain Certified Medical Dosimetry (CMD) credentials.
- Maintain clinical onboarding requirements.
- Actively support student success in alignment with college diversity goals, initiatives, and activities.
- Bachelor's Degree
- Current Certified Medical Dosimetry(CMD) credentials or equivalent (see below)
- Two (2) years of experience working in dosimetry
- Flexibility to meet scheduled clinical times
- Ability to travel to Bellevue College clinical local and out of state clinical affiliate sites
- Prior experience in supervising students in a clinical setting
- For clinical onboarding: BLS CPR, immunizations up to date
Equivalent: certification by the American Board of Radiology (ABR) as a radiation oncologist or the American Board of Medical Physicists (ABMP) as a medical physicist.
- Prior teaching experience at the community or college level
- Demonstrated experience in evaluation, instruction, and advising
- Additional modality certifications
- Demonstrated leadership experience in meeting accreditation standards, coordinating department scheduling and quality assurance.
