Position Summary
The Construction Project Manager leads and oversees capital construction projects on campus. This role supports project planning, budget management, and cross-functional collaboration in an academic environment. The Construction Project Manager ensures projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with applicable codes while fostering a safe, high-quality construction environment that aligns with the college¿s mission. This position reports to the Executive Director of Campus Operations.
This is a temporary project position and expected to end on 12/31/2025. Extension of the position pending on funding availability.
Pay, Benefits & Work SchedulePosition Salary Range: $84,595/year - $122,663/year
The salary information shown above is a general guideline only. The salary will be determined based on candidate's qualifications and related experience, as well as market and business considerations. Typically, new hire starts no higher than $94,112/year based on Bellevue College Exempt salary schedule.

The employee is scheduled to work 40 hours per workweek. This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act, which means that you are not eligible for overtime pay.

About the DepartmentBellevue College Campus Operations is responsible for capital design, construction, maintenance, custodial services, landscaping, warehouse/delivery, and all operations of campus facilities, systems, utilities, and infrastructure.
Essential FunctionsProject Leadership & Coordination
- Direct and manage all phases of construction projects¿from pre-design and planning through construction and closeout.
- Coordinate projects with architects, engineers, contractors, internal stakeholders (e.g., Facilities Management, Academic Departments), and external partners including the Department of Enterprise Services (DES) and the State Board of Community and Technical Colleges (SBCTC)
- Develop and maintain comprehensive project schedules and budgets, adjusting plans as needed to meet changing priorities.
- Maintain project documents and ensure timely payment of
invoices. - Ensure and maintain safety protocols while working in the active construction zones.
Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Ensure all projects adhere to local, state, and federal building codes, safety regulations, and college policies.
- Monitor construction progress and quality through regular site inspections and coordination meetings.
- Manage contractor performance and promptly resolve any construction-related issues or conflicts.
- Manage contracts to ensure compliance with rules, regulations, scope of work, and responsibilities.
Risk Management & Reporting
- Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Provide clear, concise reports and updates to senior management and college leadership regarding project status, milestones, and financial performance.
Team Collaboration & Communication
- Collaborate and communicate project goals, timelines, and expectations to team members and stakeholders.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all project-related inquiries and coordination with contractors and other partners.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor¿s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
- Experience in managing public or institutional construction projects, preferably within an academic or similar environment.
- Proven expertise in project scheduling, budgeting, contract administration, and quality control.
- Extensive knowledge of building codes, safety standards, and construction best practices.
- Effective leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with project management software and MS Office applications.
- Valid driver¿s license and willingness to travel between campus sites as needed.
- Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills, and customer service skills.
- Demonstrated experience working with individuals of diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- A minimum of 5 years¿ experience managing public or institutional construction projects, preferably within an academic or similar environment.
- Previous experience working on educational or community college construction projects.
- Familiarity with public sector procurement and contracting processes.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-stakeholder environment.
- Familiarity with the Department of Enterprise Services, the State Board of Community and Technical Colleges (SBCTC) and Washington State construction rules and regulations.
