*** Seasonal Ski Clinic position - 4 days a week - 32 hours per week ***

Must be available to work weekends ***

Summary of Position:

The Emergency Medical Technician assists licensed staff in the provision of patient care in the ski clinic utilizing established policies and procedures, ensuring safe and effective care. The EMT will also be registering ski clinic patients and completing all required information needed to bill and treat the patient.

 

Qualifications

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred

 

Experience:

  • Experience required as a EMT preferred

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Highly effective written and verbal communications skills.
  • Proficient computer skills are required to document, communicate and enter information into the electronic medical record system.
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to receive direction and assignments from physicians and nurses, and prioritize tasks.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and take appropriate action.
  • In compliance with patient safety standards, must be able to effectively communicate in English.

 

Certifications/Licensure:

  • CA EMT Certification required; paramedic certification preferred.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification by the American Heart Association (BLS for the Healthcare Provider)
  • Valid California or Nevada Driver's license (depending on state of employee's residence) or ability to obtain prior to start date
  • Current vehicle insurance.

Essential Functions

 

  1. Provides consistently exceptional care at all times.
  2. Responsible for registration of patients to include patient interviews, obtaining and entering accurate demographic and insurance information, insurance verification, explanation of hospital policies, obtaining consents, and collection of any point of service or outstanding payments. Handles routine patient inquiries and problems. Is a detail oriented individual who can work in a high paced environment and has exceptional customer service skills.
  3. As directed, assists the care team by collecting patient care data at designated and appropriate intervals on all assigned patients. Reports findings to licensed staff.
  4. Recognizes and accurately reports relevant patient information to licensed staff.
  5. Completes daily POCT controls and logs
  6. Completes point of care testing.
  7. Assists in monitoring the safety of behavioral health patients.
  8. Provides assistance to patients for personal hygiene, self-care activities, ambulation, exercise and dietary needs.
  9. Completes EKGs when needed.
  10. Assists physicians and licensed staff with orthopedic procedures as needed.
  11. Communicates appropriate information regarding patient safety and infection control to RN or nurses manager.
  12. Operates equipment and performs job related duties in a safe manner. Insures proper functioning of equipment and follows procedure when equipment malfunctions.
  13. Participates in educational programs, attends in-service activities and workshops, attends staff meetings as required.
  14. Demonstrates a working knowledge of regulatory and licensing standards and ensures that practice is compliant with standards.
  15. Responds to the needs of the department by performing other duties, as necessary.
