• Certification, Licensure, State Registration: Current CPR certification; Colorado DORA registered

Job Details
• Under the supervision of the OR Team Leader or Charge nurse, this position prepares and maintains medical equipment, instruments, and supplies for surgical procedures and assists with surgical patient care under the direction of an RN or physician.
• The surgical technician performs duties and tasks outlined in the Job Description: Surgical Technologist, published by the Association of Surgical Technologists.

Job Requirements
• Education: High School Diploma or its equivalent; completion of accredited school of surgical technology or the equivalent in clinical surgery training and experience.
• Experience, Training, Knowledge: 2 years of ophthalmic surgery experience preferred.
• Physical Requirements: Position requires lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling up to fifty (50) pounds, stooping, kneeling and/or crouching; standing, reaching, and grasping. Visual acuity to perform detailed tasks and operate machinery and manipulate instrumentation is essential.

Unit Specific Information
• Differentiates and demonstrates knowledge of sterilization methods required for instruments or equipment.
• Reprocesses surgical instruments per manufacturer IFU.
• Functions independently in all areas of sterile processing, including decontamination.
