THE ROLE:

AMD's Telecommunications Vertical Engineering team within the Datacenter Ecosystem and Application Engineering (DEAE) organization is looking for Sr Manger for Software Engineering who will own and drive our foundation development for the Telcom industry.

 

THE PERSON:

We are seeking a seasoned technical leader with over 10 years of experience in software development within the telecom sector. This role requires expertise in performance engineering, optimization, open-source software, and system integration. The successful candidate will join AMD's Data Center Ecosystem Engineering team, focusing on internal solution development, customer engagements, POCs, and enhancing silicon features through innovative software development. This role involves leading a team dedicated to developing telecom and communication software, enabling real-world use cases derived from customer and field engagements. The ideal candidate is passionate about optimal software development, reliability, and scalability, bringing a blend of technical expertise and strong leadership abilities.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and Drive Telecommunications Enablement Roadmap: Enable hardware, software, and solutions providers to support complex telecom operator networks.
  • Develop and implement a roadmap for enabling hardware, software, and solution providers to support complex telecom operator networks
  • Customer Engagements and PoCs: Structure and manage customer POCs and escalation engagements to ensure AMD EPYC platform adoption and customer value.

  • Open Source Adoption: Ensure the adoption of AMD and other software providers' features, functions, capabilities, and operational performance in the open-source community.

  • Identify Capabilities and Lead Initiatives: Identify necessary telco capabilities and lead activities to maintain competitive advantage.

Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency with open-source libraries (DPDK, SPDK, IPSeC)
  • Expertise in software architecture, including SEV-TIO and PCIe IDE models
  • Experience with scalable IOV, platform scalability, and next-gen I/O strategies
  • Familiarity with Open vSwitch, OpenFlow, OpenStack
  • Strong knowledge of C, C++, Go, and other programming
Leadership and Collaboration:
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and lead teams across multiple functions.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to a diverse audience

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science with 10+ years of proven experience
  • Master's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Telecommunications with 10+ years of experience
