We currently have an opportunity for an Engineering Intern to join our growing company. This is an entry level position that will keep you busy with a steady mix of project-based process improvement and production work on electromechanical subassemblies and small systems using a variety of tools and equipment according to required specifications.

This job requires excellent oral and written communication skills, proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, and a professional and courteous personality. The preferred candidate will have an eye for detail, a willingness to learn, and thrive on cross-functional teams.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Complete process improvement projects as assigned
  • Participate or take a leadership role in continuous improvement and 5S activities and audits as assigned
  • Clearly communicate task status to leads, effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously, and be able to switch projects midstream as needed
  • Interpret and participate in development of work instructions
  • Understand BOM structure and advise if discrepancies found
  • Route cables and wiring through systems
  • Measure dimensions/clearance of parts
  • Read, interpret, and follow basic blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and other written instructions or procedures to accurately assemble electromechanical equipment and products
  • Proficiently utilize a variety of hand tools such as wrenches, terminal crimpers, screw drivers, wire cutters, drills, and torque tools
  • Operate entry level power tools
  • Perform all work in accordance with quality standards and established safety procedures
  • Assist Olympus personnel with miscellaneous tasks including but not limited to: product packaging, kitting materials, warehouse cleanup activities, general support etc.
  • Follows Olympus Controls safety policies
  • Maintain Olympus Controls' values, ethics, and commitment to quality

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Able to work with a team and independently
  • Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and drawings
  • Solder and wire crimping experience highly preferred
  • Use calipers and micrometers to measure parts and determine tolerances
  • Use of hand and power tools
  • IPC 620 knowledge or training is highly preferred
  • 2D and 3D CAD experience (Solid Works preferred)
  • Excellent attention to detail with an ability to perform work accurately and efficiently
  • Self-motivated, self-directed, and a team player
  • Basic reading skills; must be able to follow written and verbal directions
  • Basic computer navigation and utilization skills, primarily Microsoft Office
  • Capable of lifting up-to 50 pounds
  • High school diploma or equivalency
  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree Program in Engineering or related field
