Performs as the supervisor in the assigned imaging sections by monitoring day to day operations including staff scheduling, daily assignments, training and equipment usage. Provides leadership, imaging expertise, support and education to the staff technologists to assure optimum performance of imaging procedures and protocols.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE: 1.Registered in imaging modality through ARRT, ARDMS or NMTCB.2. State licensure through certified modality where applicable.3. Certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire.EXPERIENCE:1. 5 years of experience in Imaging.

1. Manage personnel to ensure a well-developed cohesive work force to meet patient care needs as it relates to all aspects of imaging services within the institution.2. Supervise human resource functions related to interviewing, selection and retention of staff.3. Facilitate new employee orientation in assigned imaging sections, ensuring competencies are obtained by new staff4. Perform performance appraisals, according to hospital policy. Provides direct feedback to Manager regarding technologist performance.5. Provide ongoing feedback to employees concerning job performance. Counsels and disciplines employees, when necessary, in conjunction with management.6. Participate in fiscal activities and makes recommendations for preparation of the budget, in conjunction with management7. Assist in on going educational programs, including in-services8. Responsible for the ordering of supplies and inventory maintenance.9. Work with Radiologists and Manager to develop and maintain protocols across all radiology sections.10. Ensure consistent practice of diagnostic quality imaging among all shifts, individuals, and areas of radiology.11. Maintain an expertise in the advanced imaging post processing procedures and all equipment involved in acquisition. Troubleshoots equipment issues and contacts appropriate Biomedical Engineers. Report equipment failures immediately upon identification.12. Support and mentor staff by promoting cooperative problem solving and team building. Promote a team approach to providing Radiology services. Setting a positive example by interacting with technical, support, nursing, and medical staff in a polite and professional manner.13. Evaluate and document student clinical performance fairly, consistently and in a timely manner according to guidelines of the Educational programs.14. Educate patients regarding imaging procedures by explaining the procedure and answering questions accordingly.15. Conduct Quality Assurance audits, in collaboration with Manager and Quality Assurance Coordinator16. Participate in Image Evaluation and Analysis17. Perform as Radiology staff role, as needed, within scope of practice18. Prepare Technologist work schedules, Quality Control processes, and manage daily flow.19. Promote and contribute positively to intradepartmental and interdepartmental relationships with no more than two valid complaints in a six-month period.20. In conjunction with Manager, function as a liaison with other departments to coordinate services.21. Rotate in all areas of Imaging for development of technical skills.22. Perform image procedures based on assessment of the status of the patient, request of the service, and imaging protocols. Monitored by periodic image evaluations and supervision.23. Produce images of optimal quality by using imaging equipment and systems in the provision of image delivery and archiving.24. Select exposure factors based on patient's size, condition, and pathology resulting in optimal image quality, utilizing minimal radiation exposure.25. Minimize radiation exposure to self, patients and other staff by the use of shielding, collimation, application of the inverse square law, and minimizing repeat exposures.26. Maintain an expertise in anatomy, physiology, and pathology relative to imaging in order to optimize the procedure and ensure patient care / safety.27. Assess patient's needs and provides imaging related to comfort, hygiene, range of motion, and provides support accordingly.28. Prepare contrast agents, specific pharmaceuticals, and sterile trays, which are utilized for the imaging procedure according to procedural guidelines and protocols.29. Educate patients regarding radiographic procedures by explaining the procedure and answering questions accordingly.30. Engage in problem solving, crisis management, systems implementation, and performance improvements throughout the hospital to promote and support efficient, high quality, and cost-effective patient care.31. Display imaging techniques, patient care, and guest relation behaviors in accordance with the ARRT Code of Ethics, WVUH Administrative Policies and Procedures, Radiology Department Policies and Procedures, State and Federal Regulation, and The Joint Commission guidelines.32. Position patients accurately in accordance with established protocols.33. Minimal instruction of radiology students in the clinical setting regarding patient positioning, technique selection, manipulation of equipment and the use of accessory devices to obtain Radiographic images. Provide clinical supervision and instruction within the policies of the Radiology program and its respective accrediting bodies.34. Ensure that all vital components of the imaging process are completed in their entirety.
