The Payment Operations Manager oversees the day-to-day processing operations, including ACH Originations, ACH Exceptions/Risk Management, Real-Time Payments (RTP), FedNow, and WealthTracker internal and external payments.



What We're Looking For

  • Manage the daily payment processing operations, including ACH, Real-Time, and other payment systems, ensuring the effective and efficient execution of payment transactions and related activities.
  • Ensure that customer support teams are well-equipped to handle payment-related inquiries and issues, providing guidance on operational procedures and resolving complex customer concerns.
  • Oversee staffing levels and scheduling to ensure adequate coverage and operational efficiency.
  • Monitors staff performance, identifying staffing needs, coordinating recruitment efforts, and ensuring compliance with organizational policies and industry regulations.
  • Collaborate with department leaders to optimize staffing resources, address workforce challenges, and maintain a high standard of service delivery.
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements, including NACHA Operating Rules, Regulation E, BSA, OFAC, and others.
  • Oversee risk management procedures to safeguard transactions and protect the organization from financial, legal, and reputational risks, staying up-to-date with changes in laws, regulations, and industry standards and ensuring that all payment processing activities comply with federal and state regulations and internal policies and procedures.
  • Suggest and implement improvements for new and existing processing systems and workflows, ensuring they align with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for payment system implementations and enhancements.
  • Ensure the accurate completion of daily settlements and monthly management reports, providing a clear overview of departmental activities, performance, and any issues that need resolution.
  • Develop, maintain, and refine operational procedures and systems to support payment processing functions, ensuring they meet compliance standards and align with organizational goals.
  • Collaborate with product teams on introducing and rolling new payment products, including testing, implementation, and workflow management.


What You'll Bring

  • Strong understanding of banking operations, including ACH, wire transfers, and real-time payment systems. Familiarity with NACHA regulations and other relevant payment industry standards.
  • Knowledge of key regulatory frameworks, including NACHA Operating Rules, BSA, OFAC, Regulation E, Patriot Act, UCC-4A, and others, with the ability to apply this knowledge to daily operations and compliance activities.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities with the capacity to evaluate alternative solutions and make informed decisions to improve payment operations and mitigate risks.
  • Ability to manage complex workflows and ensure the accuracy of all operational processes, reporting, and settlements.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams, coordinate with external partners, and provide clear guidance to internal stakeholders.
  • Proven experience in payment operations management, risk management, and compliance, ideally within a financial services or banking environment.
  • Familiarity with payment processing software and systems and the ability to quickly adapt to new technologies and platforms.


Education & Experience

  • Minimum required: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum required: 5+ years experience in payments or a related field.


Licenses & Credentials

  • Professional certifications in payment systems or financial services (e.g., AAP, APRP, CTP) are preferred.


Systems & Technology

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
