SAIC is seeking a qualified Database Engineer for a FULLY REMOTE position supporting a new US Coast Guard program, AFMS (Air Force Modeling & Simulation).
AFMS is the premier agency responsible for implementation, integration, and development of Modeling and Simulation (M&S) and training and analysis standards that support the US Air Force (USAF), Department of Defense (DoD), and mission partners requiring these capabilities to support the Warfighter in full-spectrum operations.
In this role you will establish database management systems, standards, requirements, guidelines and quality assurance for database deliverables, such as conceptual design and architecture, logical database, capacity planning, external data interface specification, data loading plan, data maintenance plan and security policy.
Specific responsibilities of the Database Engineer include:
· Work with clients to translate business requirements into a logical model that will accurately support and represent the clients entity relationship and flow of data.
· Develop the appropriate database framework to convert the logical model into a physical model including the creation and maintenance of schemas containing windows, screens, tables and columns and reports that support the model.
· Create and update architectural diagrams.
· Make recommendations to maximize operating efficiency, support storage requirements and vendor software updates, enforce data governance, ensure recovery is maintained.
· Participate in quality assurance and develops test application code in client server environment.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
· Masters Degree and 10 yrs experience; Bachelors degree and 18 yrs experience or 22 yrs of relevant experience in lieu of degree.
· At the time of hire, possess DoD 8570 certification in IAT Level II certification or above (CompTIA Security+ CE, CASP+ CE, CISSP, etc.)
· Must be US Citizen and currently possess a Secret Clearance
· Agile / Scrum experience
· Strong Experience with Relational databases and NoSQL databases: MongoDB, MSSQL, DynamoDB , PostgreSQL, AWS RDS, MySQL
· Strong Experience working in a cloud-based environment.
· Strong Experience with AWS
· Comfortable manipulating, migrating very large sets of data
Desired Qualifications:
· AWS Database Specialty certification.
Target salary range: $120,001 - $160,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
