Schedule Details: These are two, 10.5 hour shifts per week (mixture of first and second shift) with every third weekend and holiday staffing rotation (1 weekend per month and two holidays per year). 

 

What You Will Do:

Technicians at the Tier 1 level perform basic pharmaceutical duties and work under the direct supervision of PHC Registered Pharmacists. A tier 1 technician needs to be proficient in basic mathematical and pharmaceutical calculations as well as computer and telephone skills. They will provide accurate, independent work and have the ability to interact well with other healthcare personnel as part of the PHC team. All tier 1 technicians will demonstrate competence in ordering and control of stock, selection of drug product, nonsterile drug preparation, controlled substance handling and pharmacy automated systems. Retail Tier 1 technicians will show proficiency in applicable insurance adjudication, prescription entry, cash handling and inventory control.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Takes direction from technician leads, pharmacists and leadership to respond to the requests and needs of patients, hospital and staff.
  • Follows department procedures and policies for all medication management tasks.
  • Supports ProHealth Care Mission and Value statements, including compliance with USP guidelines, TJC standards, Federal and State Laws and Regulations.
  • Recognize normal dose ranges and select pharmaceutical ingredients from stock for order processing.  Possess skills to reconstitute, aseptically compound, count, pour, and package non sterile products into final dosage forms as specified.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • ​Registered with State of Wisconsin.
  • 18 years of age and has graduated from highschool or equivalent.
  • Hazardous/non-hazardous Non-Sterile Compounding is required.
  • Triage phone calls and manage EPIC medication messages and pharmacy consults
  • Perform delivery to and from nursing units and follow departmental policies regarding medication use process.
  • Handle controlled substances per departmental policy.
  • Manage pharmacy automated systems and be proficient in accurate filling and maintenance of par/stock levels and reporting capabilities.  This will include, but not be limited to: Automated Dispensing cabinets, Kit Check, Ordering software and packaging machines.
  • Procure product and prepare/label intravenous admixtures prior to sterile compounding
  • Manage PA Processing (Retail)
  • Maintain, replenish and keep up to date inventory of medication stock (Retail)
  • Participate in professional development through in-service education and external education
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • ​Registered with State of Wisconsin.
  • 18 years of age and has graduated from highschool or equivalent.
  • Hazardous/non-hazardous Non-Sterile Compounding is required.
