Overview:
The Hyperbaric Technician administers hyperbaric oxygen therapy to patients as prescribed by the Hyperbaric Physician. This role is responsible for the safe and effective operation of the hyperbaric chamber(s), related support systems, and safe delivery of hyperbaric oxygen therapy to the hyperbaric patient.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Experience: 1 year of experience in one of the following fields:
Respiratory Therapist, Corpsman (Military)
Medical Services Specialist
Nurse Practitioner
EMT-Basic
Paramedic
Registered Nurse
LPN
LVN Certified
Registered Medical Assistant (CMA or RMA)
Certified Hyperbaric Technologist (CHT)
Physical Therapist
Physical Therapy Assistant
Licensure/Certification(s): Wound Care Center chamber operators must be actively certified or licensed in one of the following:
Respiratory Therapist
Corpsman Medical Services Specialist (Military)
NP (Nurse Practitioner)
EMT-Basic (Emergency Medical Technician)
Paramedic
RN (Registered Nurse)
LPN (Licensed practical Nurse)
LVN Certified (Licensed Vocational Nurse)
Registered Medical Assistant (CMA or RMA)
Certified Hyperbaric Technologist (CHT)
Physical Therapist
Physical Therapy Assistant
Additionally, each chamber operator attends, or provides verification of attendance to, an Introductory Hyperbaric Training Course as approved by the National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medical Technology (NBDHMT).
Preferred Qualifications: Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:
Strong computer skills in Microsoft products and ability to learn computer software quickly.
Strong working knowledge with insurance companies in obtaining referrals/authorizations/eligibility and benefits.
Physical Requirements:
Position requires the ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
Position requires prolonged standing and walking during each shift.
Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
