Description

Edmonton's Community Energy Transition Strategy and Climate Resilience Edmonton Adaptation Strategy contribute to climate resilience, which is a priority identified in ConnectEdmonton: Edmonton's Strategic Plan.

Reporting to the Principal Climate Strategist of the Climate Strategy and Planning Unit, the work of the Senior Climate Resilience Project Manager will have a direct influence on climate governance and decision-making within the City.

What will you do?

  • Manage and participate in complex projects that improve governance, decision-making and accountability across the corporation to ensure that the City effectively addresses recommendations within the City Auditor's Report on Environmental and Climate Governance and as per Administration's Response
    • Track progress on the implementation of Auditor Recommendations and support development and implementation of corrective actions, as required
    • Develop a climate and environment decision making framework
    • Complete a governance review and develop a recommendation and implementation plan for a long-term solution; Ensure projects achieve their overall objective(s) with a focus on achieving expectations related to quality, cost and time
  • Present deliverables and provide updates on the City's progress on Environmental and Climate Governance to City Council's Energy Transition Climate Resilience Committee and the City's Executive Leadership Team's Climate Task Force 
  • Support major projects within the Unit that require implementation governance
  • Map out initiatives being led by the Environment and Climate Resilience Section to understand interconnections and timing alignment
  • Present deliverables and provide updates (as required) on the City's progress on Environmental and Climate Governance to City Council's Energy Transition Climate Resilience Committee and the City's Executive Leadership Team's Climate Task Force  
  • Determine the need for consulting services and contracting services as required Problem solve, multitask and effectively manage conflicting priority and time-sensitive requests
