Play a pivotal role in the upcoming 2025 Edmonton Election!

The Edmonton Election is a large-scale, complex, highly legislated civic project that is held every four years, featuring tight timelines and a broad range of stakeholders. It is a project that requires agility, precision, and dedication, offering a unique opportunity to contribute to a process that enables Edmontonians to vote for Mayor, Council, and Edmonton Public or Edmonton Catholic school board trustees.

As the Project Lead, Ballot Account & Recount Readiness you will oversee critical aspects of the 2025 election, focusing on ballot accounting and ensuring timely validation of election results within a 3.5-day legislated deadline. You will also manage the implementation of recount processes to meet legal requirements, including those mandatedby the Returning Officer or judicial authorities, while overseeing the growth and management of a specialized team of over 50 staff members.

What will you do?

  • Develop post-election ballot accounting processes and procedures to review and verify Ballot Account and Result of Vote Forms
  • Collaborate with Election Strategy and People Management to integrate tools, voting station processes, reporting mechanisms and election worker training
  • Collaborate with the Manager and People Management team to structure the ballot account team with shifts that support full completion of ballot accounting within the legislated time frame
  • Develop and implement system integrations with Technology, Planning and Operations to cross-reference and validate Ballot Account Form data, establish processes to identify recount triggers
  • Coordinate with Communications and Governance for timely public reporting of official results Develop processes and staffing models to manage Returning Officer (RO) determined recounts, mandatory threshold recounts, and judicial recounts
  • Supervise the Ballot Account and Recount Teams, overseeing hiring, training, setting role expectations, providing guidance and coaching, and performance evaluation to ensure effective team operation
  • Empower staff with necessary skills and competencies, ensuring they feel equipped for their roles; assign tasks, review project progress, timelines, and provide feedback and coaching as needed
