    Job Details
  • Hospital located on the Western Side of Iowa in need of a PCU RN on their Critical Care Unit.
  • ICU experience is preferred but not required.
  • This is a twenty bed unit.
    Job Requirements
  • ICU experience is preferred but not required.
  • RN's - Pass/Fail exam on Friday during orientation.
  • OPEN BOOK exam on skills learned - they are given all necessary resources to pass.
  • Must receive a 90% to pass or they will be terminated.
    Schedule Information
  • The hospital is also seeking coverage on their night shifts.
  • Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?): 0630-1900, 1830-0700.
  • Weekend Requirements: Every third.
  • Holiday Requirements: 1 major, 1 minor.
  • Floating Requirements: Will float to ICU if appropriate and has experience.
  • How many shifts of unit/department specific orientation?: 1- 12 hour shift in the department.
    Unit Specific Information
  • # of Beds: 22
  • Nurse:Patient Ratios: 1:04
  • Common diagnoses/Types of patients: Heart failure, Afib, respiratory distress, stroke
  • Are RNs required to titrate drips?: Yes
  • Common titratable &/or set rate drips: Cardizem, amiodarone, nitro
  • Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift? Does the charge nurse take an assignment?: Yes- does take a full patient assignment
  • Are there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit? Ratios? Duties?: Yes- 1:10
  • RT Equipment (Vents, Cpap, BiPap, High Flow, etc.) Are RNs required to do anything with these besides trouble shoot?: CPAP
  • Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors?: RNs must read and interpret strips
    Additional Details
  • Floating Requirements: Will float to ICU if appropriate and has experience.
  • Additional Notes: Fast paced unit with many admits and discharges.

  • Radius Rule: 50 miles AND candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity.
  • RTO needed upfront (7 or less days per 13 week contract). Additional RTO will not be approved, including after submissions.
